Prepare for a small fiber neuropathy evaluation
Burning pain, tingling, autonomic symptoms, and temperature dysregulation are frequently labeled as fibromyalgia or anxiety. Medvo helps you describe the length-dependent or non-length-dependent pattern and request skin biopsy and autonomic testing.
Symptoms patients describe
- · Burning, stabbing, or electric pain in feet, hands, or face
- · Temperature dysregulation, sweating abnormalities, GI or cardiac autonomic symptoms
- · Normal EMG/NCS despite severe symptoms
Tests & referrals to request
Framed as evaluation — your clinician decides what is appropriate.
- · Skin punch biopsy for intraepidermal nerve fiber density
- · Autonomic function testing (QSART, tilt, etc.)
- · Referral to neurologist specializing in peripheral neuropathy
If you've been dismissed
- · Normal nerve conduction study used to dismiss symptoms entirely
- · Pain attributed to 'central sensitization' without small-fiber evaluation
