Appointment prep
Prepare for a myasthenia gravis evaluation
Fluctuating muscle weakness (eyes, face, swallowing, limbs) that worsens with activity is frequently dismissed as stroke, anxiety, or 'just tired'. Medvo helps track fatigability and request antibody and neuromuscular testing.
Symptoms patients describe
- · Drooping eyelids (ptosis), double vision worse later in day
- · Difficulty chewing, swallowing, or speaking that fatigues
- · Generalized weakness, shortness of breath when lying flat
Tests & referrals to request
Framed as evaluation — your clinician decides what is appropriate.
- · Acetylcholine receptor (AChR) and MuSK antibodies, repetitive nerve stimulation/EMG
- · Ice pack test or edrophonium test in clinic if appropriate
- · Referral to neurologist specializing in neuromuscular disorders; chest CT for thymoma
If you've been dismissed
- · Told it's anxiety, depression, or 'all in your head'
- · Symptoms ignored until respiratory crisis
