Prepare for a mastocytosis or mast cell disorder evaluation
Flushing, hives, anaphylactoid reactions, bone pain, and GI issues from mast cell proliferation are often labeled as allergies or anxiety. Medvo helps you describe the pattern and request tryptase levels and specialist referral — framed as evaluation, never diagnosis.
Symptoms patients describe
- · Unexplained flushing, hives, or anaphylaxis-like episodes
- · Bone pain, fatigue, and GI symptoms (diarrhea, nausea)
- · Skin lesions (urticaria pigmentosa) or itching
Tests & referrals to request
Framed as evaluation — your clinician decides what is appropriate.
- · Serum tryptase (baseline and during episodes), 24-hour urine methylhistamine
- · Referral to hematologist or allergist/immunologist experienced in mast cell disorders
- · Skin or bone marrow biopsy if systemic suspected
If you've been dismissed
- · Reactions called 'idiopathic anaphylaxis' without tryptase check
- · Skin lesions dismissed as 'age spots' or eczema
